OK, so far I’ve quit the job & sold albums into America, Germany, the UK & (of course) Australia… now, for the next bit: As Mark & I have become friends & (unofficially) a 2 man comedy act since meeting, he liked the idea of the corporate parodies; so much so that he asked me to write some parodies specific to the topics covered in his "Eat That Frog" workshops.
To that end, I immediately wrote one about procrastination (to the tune of The Beatles’ "Revolution"), recorded it & sent it to Mark. He loved it!
So I wrote another one about time management, called "Manage Your Time" (to the tune of Cindi Lauper’s "Time After Time"). Again, he couldn’t get enough of it.
So, on the agenda for this month is a live performance at Mark’s "Mini Eat That Frog", coming up on April 30 (details at www.eatthatfrog.com.au/mini
I am working on some more songs for the event & will have CD’s available for purchase there as well.
Aside from that, I’ve been asked to parody some of the members of the West Brighton Club at their birthday dinner on May 1, have got 4 songs written for the next album & am meeting with a couple of event co-ordinators over the coming fortnight to further spread my web…
I’d love to see you at the Mini Eat That Frog session on April 30 & will promise you a laugh or two…
Until next time,
Hasta la vista!!
Degen Agnew (The artist known as "You").

The one quality that all leaders have in common is that they have a clear and exciting vision for the future.
This is something that only the leader can do. Only the leader can think about the future and plan for the future each day.
Take the Time to Think
Excellent leaders take the time to think through and develop a clear picture of where they want the organization to be in one, three and five years. Leaders have the ability to communicate this vision in such a way that others "buy in" and eventually see the vision as belonging to them.
Motivate People to Give of Their Best
It is the vision of the future possibilities, of what can be, that arouses emotion and motivates people to give of their best. The most powerful vision is always qualitative, aimed at and described in terms of values and mission rather than quantitative, which is described in terms of money and numbers.
Money is Important
Of course, money is important, but the decision and commitment to "be the best in the business" is far more exciting.
Keep Your Cool
Another key to leadership success is for you to "keep your cool." A study at Stanford Business School examined the qualities that companies look for in promoting young managers toward senior executive positions, especially the position of Chief Executive Officer. The study concluded that the two most important qualities required for great success were, first, the ability to put together and function as part of a team. Since all work is ultimately done by teams, and the managers’ output is the output of the team, the ability to select team members, set objectives, delegate responsibility and finally, get the job done, was central to success in management.
Practice is Everything
The second quality required for rapid promotion was found to be the ability to function well under pressure, and especially in a crisis. Keeping your cool in a crisis means to practice patience and self-control under difficult or disappointing circumstances.
People Are Watching
The character and quality of a leader is often demonstrated in these critical moments under fire, when everyone is watching, observing and privately taking notes. As Rudyard Kipling once said, "If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, then the world is yours and all that’s in it".
Your job as a leader is to have a clear vision of where you want to go and then to keep your cool when things go wrong, as they surely will.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action:
First, project forward 3-5 years and imagine your ideal future vision. What does it look like? What steps can you take immediately to begin turning your future vision into your current reality?
Second, resolve in advance that, no matter what happens, you will remain calm and cool. You will not become upset or angry. You will take a deep breath and focus on the solution rather than on the problem.

The most common form of stress that we experience is the feeling of being overwhelmed with far too much to do and having too little time to do it in. In fact, "time poverty" is the biggest single problem facing most managers in Australia today. We simply do not have enough time to fulfill all our responsibilities. Because of budget limitations, staff cutbacks, downsizing, and competitive pressures, individual managers are forced to take on more and more work, all of which appears to be indispensable to the smooth functioning of our company or department.
Become an Expert
The solution to this problem of work overload is for you to become an expert on time management. There is probably no other skill that you can learn that will give you a "bigger bang for the buck" than to become extremely knowledgeable and experienced in using time management practices.
Be Open to New Ideas
The most foolish manager of all is either the manager who feels that he has no time to learn about time management or, even worse, the manager who, while being overwhelmed with work, feels that he already knows all that he needs to know about the subject.
"Learn the Secrets to Getting More Done in Less Time"
Do you feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything you want and need to do?
Would you like to accomplish ALL of your work or business goals, spend quality time with family and friends, pursue a hobby or interest, and still have a few minutes to relax?
The reality is that you have more time than you think. What you need is a reliable way to manage that time more effectively.
"Eat That Frog!"
In my live 1 day Eat That Frog Training Workshop I present you with Brian Tracy’s proven, practical system guaranteed to help you get more done in less time. Filled with lots of powerful, practical, proven strategies, tools, and techniques, that will help you take complete control of your time.

Never Stop Learning
The fact is that you can study time management and take time management courses for your entire business life and you will still never learn everything you need to know to get the most out of yourself while doing your job in the most efficient way.
The Keys to Time Management
The two indispensable keys to time management are:1) the ability to set priorities; and 2) the ability to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing at a time. Since there is never enough time to do everything that needs to be done, you must be continually setting priorities on your activities. Perhaps the very best question that you can memorize and repeat, over and over, is, "what is the most valuable use of my time right now?"
The Best Question of All
This question, "what is the most valuable use of my time right now?" will do more to keep you on track, hour by hour, than any other single question in the list of time management strategies.
The natural tendency for all of us is to major in minors and to give in to the temptation to clear up small things first. After all, small things are easier and they are often more fun than the big, important things that represent the most valuable use of your time.
Start With Your Top Tasks
However, the self-discipline of organizing your work and focusing on your highest value tasks is the starting point of getting your time under control and lowering your stress levels.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to get your time under control.
First, make a decision today to become an expert on time management. Read the books, listen to the audio programs, and take a time management course. Then, practice, practice, practice every day until you master time management skills.
Second, set clear priorities on your work each day, before you begin. Then, discipline yourself to start on your most important task and stay at that until it is complete. This will relieve much of your stress immediately.

Here is a simple seven-step formula for setting and achieving goals that you can use for the rest of your career:
First, decide exactly what you want, in each area of your life. Most people never do this. Clarity is essential.
Second, write it down clearly and specifically. Make it measurable. A goal that is not in writing is merely a fantasy. It has no energy behind it.
Third, set a deadline for your goal and if necessary, set sub-deadlines. Your subconscious mind thrives on time-specific goals.
Fourth, make a list of everything you will have to do to achieve your goal. Add to your list as you think of new activities and tasks, which you will. Keep adding to your list until it is complete.
Fifth, organize your list into a plan. Decide what you need to do first and what you need to do later. Decide what needs to be done before something else is done. Work and rework your plan until it is complete.
Sixth, take action on your plan immediately. Do something, do anything, but get started. It is amazing how many people fail because they don’t take action on their goals and plans.
Seventh, and finally, resolve to do something every day that moves you toward your major goal, whatever it is at the moment. This discipline of doing something every day enables you to develop and maintain momentum. Daily action increases your determination and gives you energy. This single resolution, daily action, can be the most important focal point in your life or career.
Once you have determined your goals and written them down, think about them all the time: morning, noon and night. And the only question you as is, “how?” How can you achieve them? The question of “whether” is no longer on the table.

I attended Mark’s, "Eat That Frog" LIVE 1 Day Training Workshop and realized what, areas my business required me to improve.
Mark, helped me to think outside the square, about taking my business to a higher level, than I thought possible.
While I had already connected with my business goals and plans.
